Established in 2004 by Giles Castleton, GC motors has grown to become the largest independent sports, prestige & 4x4 dealership in the country, with over £10 million of vehicles in stock any one time.

The Castleton family has been involved in the motor trade for three generations. After a successful career running eleven garages for a large plc, Giles Castleton decided to go it alone 18 years ago, setting up his own business and calling it GC Motors after his initials.

He began by selling cars from a cowshed at the Yorkshire Show Ground, but Giles’s previous car retailing experience helped him to rapidly grow his business.

Within a short time, he’d outgrown the site and larger premises were needed. And so, GC Motors moved to Mornington Crescent in Harrogate where the business continued to thrive, resulting in a further move to Thorp Arch in nearby Wetherby.

Then, in 2008, the opportunity arose to purchase GC Motors’ current site on Ripon Road in Harrogate, large enough to have the capacity to hold over 120 vehicles. The dealership continues to grow and expand, so much so that GC Motors now has more than 70 employees and an annual turnover in excess of £80 million.
