Atlantic City to Silverstone: The World’s Best Classic Car Shows

When it comes to classic car shows, there’s such a wide variety available. No matter whether you prefer autojumbles, track days, swaps or meets, there’s something to suit you. Throughout the calendar year, there’s an event almost every single day. But, which of these are the best? Here we look at the very best show each continent has to offer. The scale will blow your mind!

America: Atlantic City Collector Car Show and Auction

Every year in Atlantic City thousands of petrolheads and classic car enthusiasts meet to discuss their love of vehicles. Officially, there’s room for 250 vendors, but it feels like there is so much more. Now in its 40th year, the Atlantic City Collector Car Show and Auction has become one of the biggest (if not the biggest) classic car meets in America, and visiting it is like a rite of passage for American car enthusiasts.

Asia: Indonesia International Motor Show

Now, the Atlantic City show may be huge, but it is tiny in comparison to the Indonesia International Motor Show. With 1,000,000 visitors, 400 journalists and 300 brands, the Indonesia show has something for everyone. The largest motoring show in the East, you’re guaranteed to not be disappointed. Back in 2006, total sales activity during the show broke the 1 trillion Rupiah barrier for the first time and it has continued to grow in stature ever since. The show mainly promotes Indonesia’s bustling car scene, but there’s also a huge number of foreign classics on show as well.

Australasia: Motorclassica

20,000 visitors went to Motorclassica last year and, although it isn’t on quite the same scale as Indonesia, it is still packed with classics. Last year’s event paid particular focus to Aston Martin’s centenary year and the 50th year of Lamborghini. If old classics are your thing, then this is the perfect convention for you. Last year, the best in show category was won by a 1921 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost. Classics can never look more beautiful than that.

Europe: Silverstone Classic Car Show

So much more than your average car show, the Silverstone convention is a race, music festival and car display all in one. Last year there was over 9,000 classics on show alongside 20 races and over 30 bands. If you want somewhere to take the whole family then Silverstone is the perfect place to visit. There’s even aerial demonstrations and an off road zone. Silverstone really is the perfect all rounder.

So, there we have it. The world’s largest classic car festivals in 2014. We hope this has whetted your appetite for the year ahead.
